Ohio-born actress Sarah Jessica Parker came from a family of ten. She was but one of several siblings engaged in show business careers. At age 12, Parker made her Broadway debut with Claire Bloom in The Innocents. She followed this with a small role in the long-running musical Annie; before this engagement ended, she had taken over the title role. Though she made her film debut in 1979's Rich Kids, the next phase of her career was mostly confined to series television, with regular roles in "Square Pegs" (typecast as a tall, gawky teen), "A Year in the Life," and "Equal Justice." Her film assignments have included Footloose (1983), Girls Just Want to Have Fun (1985), LA Story (1988), Honeymoon in Vegas (1993), Hocus Pocus (1993), Ed Wood (1994), and The First Wives Club (1996). Off-camera, Parker has been extremely active in the campaign to further AIDS research.
