Kevin Kline is an acclaimed Juilliard-trained actor who has demonstrated panache in his widely varied film and stage roles. Kline has played everything from a swashbuckling Douglas Fairbanks in Richard Attenborough's Chaplin to intensely dramatic parts in Sophie's Choice (1982), The Big Chill (1983) and Cry Freedom (1987), and wild comedic parts in A Fish Called Wanda (1988), for which he won for an Oscar, and Dave (1993). He is also a gifted musical performer, winning two Tony Awards, for On the Twentieth Century and The Pirates of Penzance, which he repeated on film in 1983. In the '90s, Kline became associate producer of the New York Shakespeare Festival, with which he had long been affiliated. Kline is married to actress Phoebe Cates. |
