HENRY & JUNE |

Based on Anais Nin's diaries, Henry and June chronicles Nin's (Maria DeMedeiros) love affairs with author Henry Miller (Fred Ward) and his wife June (Uma Thurman) during the early '30s in Paris. Though the film is sexually explicit--enough so that it became the first film to be rated "NC-17"--it is surprisingly slow and unerotic. Henry and June is saved by a fascinating, if slightly convoluted script, and fine performances, particularly by Ward as the macho Miller. |
